• Goose Bumps 雞皮疙瘩
  goose指的是鵝，而不是雞，這並不是翻譯的錯誤，而是語言不同，對事物表達也有所不同；bump是指凸出物、腫塊。
  
  A: Oh my God! That movie was so scary!
  B: Yeah, I had goose bumps all over my arms!
  A: The hairs on the back of my neck stood up.
  
  A: 天哪！這部片子真是嚇死人了！
  B: 是啊！我整個手臂都起雞皮疙瘩了！
  A: 我脖子後面的寒毛都豎起來了！

　

•  Stuff your face 狼吞虎嚥
  
  stuff有飽食，吃得過多或過快的意思；buffet自助餐；all-you-can eat吃到飽。
  
  A: Hey Susan, what's up?
  B: I'm off to the Chinese buffet down the street.
  A: Is it good?
  B: Yeah, and it's cheep. You can really pig out and stuff your face!
  
  A: 嘿！Susan，你最近好嗎？
  B: 我要去街尾的那家中式自助餐。
  A: 好吃嗎？
  B: 對呀，而且好便宜，你可以去大吃大喝、狼吞虎嚥！

　

•  dark circle 黑眼圈
  
  一般來說，black eye是指因打架而有的黑眼圈；dark circle則是因睡眠不足、疲勞的黑眼圈；insomnia為失眠症。
  所以下次，要說自己有黑眼圈，千萬別用錯囉！
  
  A: Are you okay?
  B: Yes, why do you ask?
  A: You have dark circles under your eyes.
  B: Well, I didn't get enough sleep for the past few days.
  A: Oh, you have insomnia.
  B: No, I've been really busy at work.
  
  A: 你還好吧？
  B: 是！還好啊！為什麼這樣問？
  A: 你有黑眼圈。
  B: 嗯，我這幾天都睡眠不足。
  A: 喔！你失眠了。
  B: 不是，是我一直忙著工作。

　

•  blind date 相親
  
  blind date意指盲目約會，是說在見面、約會之前雙方是不認識的，所以相親也可以用blind date來表達，只是一般國外的會面大都透過朋友安排，而在台灣大都由家長、親友安排。
  
  A: Are you ready for your blind date?
  B: Yeah, but I'm pretty nervous.
  A: Yeah, imagine if he has bad breath and a lot of zits.
  B: Thanks for the "encouragement", I'm "really" looking forward to meeting him now.
  
  A: 你準備好要去赴你的相親了嗎？
  B: 好了，可是我好緊張。
  A: 對啊！想想看要是他有口臭又長一大堆青春豆。
  B: 真是謝謝你的「鼓勵」啊，我現在「很想很想」見到他。
